Aan Tafel
Round-table-discussion
Rooted in granite paving flowerpots and benches stand as little monuments made for eternity. Public space stands symbol for solidity and stability. Public space is untouchable.
Pedestrians and cyclists cross daily the ‘Ruiterij’. The space is a passage between two neighborhoods. But it could become more than a transit zone. It could become a destination, an anchor point in public space where initiatives of entrepreneurs and residents obtain a place in between the tides of the city.
‘Aan Tafel’ is no overarching design. It is a small intervention, a piece of furniture that can define space. The characteristic table is the start to use the ‘Ruiterij’ as urban interior. One can make an appointment ‘at the table’ or take a seat in a public discussion.
