FCF 11
in the making
In 2011 FASHIONCLASH has no place for a white cube concept. The new designs are directly laid upon the old and raw setting. A real clash allows no neutral canvas, which would separate the exhibits from the context.
The former Mosa Decor-factory is compelled to participate in the confrontation of styles and disciplines. The layout of the exhibition follows the building structure and adds a new layer of organization. Construction lines become part of a pattern of presentation axes, routing and exhibition spaces.
The public section of the building is one continuous space. The open plan connects entrance, exhibition and bar. The added volumes don’t seal off the space in order to let the building still be experienced as a whole.
Limiting the amount of waste was an objective, therefor all material for the exhibition is rented. The elements function as extension of the building interior and provide the entourage for the images, products, objects, mannequins and movies. Because of the immense scale of the location, the transport of materials is the limit - financially and logistically. How many concrete blocks of 2 tons can we afford? Is there enough height to deliver a 30 ft container?
